Mark Mobius is a distinguished figure in the world of finance, investments, and particularly emerging markets. He holds a diverse academic background, with a B.A. and M.S. in Communications from Boston University, and a Ph.D. in economics from the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), which he received in 1964. His thirst for knowledge led him to further studies at the University of Wisconsin, University of New Mexico,and Kyoto University in Japan. Mobius embarked on a multifaceted career journey, initially delving into areas such as talent agency work, teaching communications, and marketing Snoopy merchandise in Asia. He ventured into political consulting, market research, and even ran his own research business before joining Vickers-da-Costa, an international securities firm. Eventually, he became the president of Mega International Investment Trust Company in Taipei, Taiwan, the first and largest investment company in the country at the time. The Templeton Era marked a significant chapter in Mobius’s career when renowned value investor Sir John Templeton entrusted him to run Templeton Emerging Markets in 1987.

During his remarkable three-decade tenure at Franklin Templeton Investments, Mobius’s astute research and extensive travels to emerging economies worldwide provided him with profound insights and expertise. He correctly predicted the 2009 bull market and made strategic investments in Africa ahead of others. Under Mobius’s leadership, the Templeton Emerging Markets Group witnessed exponential growth, with assets growing from $100 million in six markets to over $40 billion in 70 countries. In 2018, Mobius embarked on a new venture, co-founding Mobius Capital Partners alongside two of his Templeton colleagues. As an active investment manager, Mobius focuses on a single and concentrated strategy centered around enhancing governance standards in emerging market companies. He continues to traverse the globe, meeting with management teams worldwide in his quest to uncover undervalued companies before others do. As a graduate from Cornell University, John embarked on his journey into the world of finance and emerging markets during his time at the SC Johnson College of Business Emerging Markets Institute. It was during John’s tenure at the Emerging Markets Institute that he had the privilege to cross paths with Mark Mobius, the Founder of Mobius EM. Under his mentorship, John spent the past three years as the Head of Research, contributing to the investment strategies of Mobius and publishing several blogs and research papers through Cornell.

Utilizing cutting-edge financial services such as Bloomberg and Capital IQ, John meticulously scans for investment opportunities across the globe. Collaborating closely with Mark, John has had the opportunity to visit over 20 countries, leveraging each visit to unearth potential investments and engage with industry executives.

As Mobius EM continues its relentless pursuit of alpha in emerging markets and with a solid foundation in research and a global perspective forged through extensive travels, John is committed to delivering value to investors.

Prior to joining Mobius Investments, Eric worked as an Investment Analyst at Celeste Funds Management, a small to mid-cap fund manager with $1 billion in funds under management. In this role, Eric was the primary analyst for the technology and consumer discretionary sectors. Eric was responsible for idea generation, conducting bottom-up fundamental research, building detailed three-statement models, running meetings with management and updating forecasts with a view on upside/downside and portfolio weighting.
Before joining Celeste, Eric was an Advanced Specialist at Bloomberg for two years, focusing on Cash Equity and Derivative products. He developed equity screening and analytical tools for clients across the APAC region.
A graduate of the University of Technology Sydney with a Bachelor of Business, Eric earned recognition in several prestigious competitions, including being in the Top 30 out of 100,000 for the Hult Prize in Boston and placing in the top 2 out of 500 in the national EY Case competition. Additionally, Eric served as President of the UTS Consulting Society and was a mentor for students in the Austern International program across Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Singapore.
